“He took the blind man by the hand and led him OUTSIDE the village. When he had spit on the man’s eyes and put his hands on him….Then his eyes were opened, his sight was restored, and he saw everything clearly. Jesus sent him home, saying, “DONT even go into the village.” – Mark 8:23-26
I love this scripture. What grabs me the most is not that this blind man was healed. It’s the process of how he was healed. Interesting that Jesus grabbed him by the hand and took him outside the village. Only then did the man start to see. Secondly once he was healed Jesus banned him from going back to the village.
Here is my take on the significance and symbolism of what Jesus did:
1. In order to experience the new you must leave the old
2. Your eyes can’t be opened to new possibilities and opportunities if you remain in familiar surroundings
3. Comfort zones are not even comfortable…they are just familiar
