You Are In A Good Place To Shine

“The man who knows how will always have a job, the man who knows why will always be the leader”.  I heard these words more than 10 years ago from one of the finest leaders to come out of Africa, and it changed my approach to work and life in general. At the heart of that statement is the issue of PURPOSE. Purpose is the soil in which the seeds of greatness in each and every one of us will thrive. It doesn’t matter if you are a pastor, employee, business owner, student or a housewife…as long as you seek your purpose you will start to thrive right there where you are.  Understanding purpose will give meaning to every aspect of your life. If two people where to start work on the very same day, both with similar experience and qualifications…the one who understands purpose will become the leader after a few years. It’s that simple! The reason why some people get to a place and not leave a footprint is explained by lack of awareness of purpose. If you are purposeful, you look at making a generational impact. Purpose is the reason which remains when all the other reasons including that of making money is gone.

You Are In A Good Place To Shine

God never brings you to a place where you cannot shine. You are a creature of wonder, created to manifest excellence and glory. However a lot of people miss their moment of glory, by looking beyond where God has placed them. God works with what’s in your hand. Time would fail me if I speak about Moses the Deliverer who had a rod in his hand. He delivered the whole nation of Israel using just a rod! The rod in another shepherd’s hand could have been just a rod to guide sheep and to protect the flock from predators. But not with Moses, the moment he understood WHY he had a rod in his hand it assumed a NEW MEANING. I would like to speak to you today, there is something in your hand right now – if you just understand WHY, it will assume a new meaning and you open yourself to new and unlimited possibilities.

But Sower, I am just a tea maker, a clerk, a manager, an usher, a pastor, and a housewife. Aha, then you are in a good place to shine! Where purpose connects with responsibility, great things are bound to happen. Remember I once wrote that David was a mere shepherd boy who could sling with a zing that made him a king. If you are a tea maker, you must make it in such a way that the CEO of your company will have to ask for you in his presence to explain how you make it with such a unique taste. Oh if I had time I would tell you about one Joanna whose cappuccino making skills did not pass notice of the boss in a company I visited. Excellence is the antidote for mediocrity. Greatness does not always come clothed in shining purple pageantry; sometimes it comes disguised in grubby robes called work. Shine on right there where you are today!

How Do You Identify Purpose?

Your purpose is linked to what your heart beats fast about. Physically, each of us has a unique heartbeat. Just as you each have unique thumbprints, eye prints, and voice prints, your heart beats in slightly different patterns. God has given each of us a unique emotional “heartbeat” that races when we think about the subjects, activities, or circumstances that interest us. You instinctively care about some things and not about others. These are clues to where your purpose lies. There are certain subjects that you feel deeply passionate about and others that you couldn’t care less about. Some experiences turn you on and capture your attention, while others turn you off or bore you to tears. These reveal the nature of your heart; listen for inner promptings that can point you in the direction of your purpose. You can only serve better when you bring your unique gifting and heart into whatever you do. Your purpose is packaged in a bundle of desires, hopes, interests, ambitions, dreams, and affections that you have. This is why people of purpose are highly motivated, passionate and driven. Purpose makes you a leader, because it pushes you to serve than to be served. It makes you look out for others than just your own small dream. This is what leadership is about. The soil of responsibility and service is the perfect place to plant the seed of greatness. This is a season for you to shine…arise, arise, arise…revelation brings elevation.

  1. The ability to shine in whatever endeavor we venture into is a gift from God . He hones us and provides us with the right skills and talents that even the ability to gather riches is from God and we should never be proud .
May we all shine and bloom to wherever we are planted faithfully !
